Community Guidelines

Thank you for joining Neighbors for a Better Micron (NBM) on social media. NBM participates in social media in order to engage with individuals and organizations working to make sure our future neighbor, Micron, prioritizes the community of Central New York. NBM provides content to encourage community members to learn and connect around the Micron project in Clay and Cicero.

External, non-NBM links on this site do not constitute official endorsement by NBMand are subject to removal if deemed inappropriate. No participant is authorized to make statements, commitments, or representations on behalf of NBM. Unless expressly identified as an official NBM communication, all posts and comments reflect solely the views of the individual who posted them and not those of NBM, its organizers, coalition members, or partner organizations.

We encourage supporters to share thoughts and opinions on the NBM channels, and all contributions must be done in a respectful manner.

NBM does not necessarily agree with and/or endorse comments that individuals post on our page. Our goal is to share ideas and information with as many individuals as possible while maintaining a respectful forum for discussion. NBM reserves the right, but not the obligation, to moderate, remove, or restrict access to content or participants that it determines violate these Guidelines. Because this is an interactive online forum, NBM does not pre-screen all content and cannot guarantee that content violating these Guidelines will be removed immediately. 

Community Guidelines

By joining this group, you are opting in to become a member of Neighbors for a Better Micron, and agree that our neighbors and communities deserve a real return on investment.  Membership in channels or Facebook Groups does not authorize any participant to speak, act, or make commitments on behalf of NBM.

Members of our group agree to the following:

  • Respect

    • Engage in a respectful way with other users.

    • Connect about your experiences in Central NY, shared interest in a topic, etc.

    • Stay on topic. 

    • Critique ideas, not people. 

    • You may not demonstrate gross or repeated disrespect for another person(s) in the NBM Facebook group. This includes personal attacks.

  • Safety & Privacy

    • We do not tolerate violent threats to any person(s), or the glorification of violence.

    • We do not tolerate hate speech targeting race, ethnicity, gender, identity, sexual preference or orientation, nationality, or political or religious beliefs. This includes coded hate speech.

    • You may not engage in targeted abuse, harassment, bullying, or make comments that threaten or wish for emotional or physical harm on another person(s).

    • We do not tolerate profanity, obscenity, or vulgarity. This includes linking to outside sensitive media that is excessively gory, pornographic, or sexually violent. This includes coded profanity. 

    • You may not post, encourage others to post, or threaten to post private information without express permission. This includes, but is not limited to, home and work addresses, phone numbers, and bank account numbers.

  • Authenticity

    • You may not post fraudulent, misleading, or erroneous comments to intentionally spread misinformation.

    • You may not engage in lobbying of any kind.

    • We do not tolerate spam comments, such as identical comments made on the same post or across multiple posts.

    • You may not post comments whose main purpose is to sell a product.

    • We do not tolerate content that infringes on the copyright or intellectual property of others.

    • You may not impersonate another individual or organization with intent to deceive, mislead, or confuse others.

    • You may not submit or support the submission of any comments/information, photos, videos, links or other content ("Third Party Content") to the NeighborsForABetterMicron Page ("Page") which infringes on the rights of any third party, violates any law or other legal authority, is false and/or misleading in any manner of which fails to comply with Facebook's Terms and Conditions.

Comments in violation of these guidelines, or other comments deemed inappropriate or inconsistent with the purpose of the group by other NBM organizers , are subject to removal. NBM reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to restrict or remove any participant from the Group at any time, including immediately for repeated or egregious violations of these Guidelines. 

Our goal is to apply these guidelines fairly and equitably, but moderation is a human process, and even with the best intentions, inconsistencies may occur. NBM organizers regularly review comments in a good faith effort to moderate according to our stated Community Guidelines, however violations may not be immediately resolved outside working hours. We aim to facilitate a safe space for users looking to hold Micron accountable to our community. Please message us if you see a post that is harmful. 

By joining the Group, you acknowledge that any content uploaded by anyone other than NBM is created by and is the sole responsibility of the submitter, does not necessarily reflect the views of NBM, and does not constitute an official statement or position of NBM. Notwithstanding, NBM reserves the right, but assumes no obligation, to remove any Third Party Content at its sole discretion. Submission of any Third Party Content grants NBM an unlimited, worldwide, perpetual, license and right to publish, use such content, or any idea contained therein, or any portion thereof, in any way, for commercial, advertising/promotional or any other purposes, without consideration or notification to the submitter.
